E.O. - Frankincense
Botanical Name: Boswellia Carteri
Place of Origin: The small tree originates in the Middle East, North Africa, and Somalia.
Description: Frankincense is a small shrub with white or pale pink flowers. It yields a natural oleo gum resin which is collected by making incisions into the bark. The resin has a warm, woody, sweet, spicy fragrance with a hint of lemon.
Part of Plant used: The resin
Method of Extraction: Steam distillation
Blends well with: basil, bergamot, black pepper, geranium, jasmine, lavender, lemon, myrrh, neroli, orange, patchouli, pine, rose, rosewood, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang - ylang.
INDICATIONS:
Mind & Spirit: Used for thousands of years to enhance prayer, mental perception, and meditation, frankincense fortifies and soothes the spirit as it slows down and deepens the breathing. Burning frankincense produces a psycho active substance which expands consciousness. It helps heal emotional wounds especially linked to the past. A deeply healing oil.
Body: Frankincense is particularly active with regard to the lungs, it is one of the most valuable oils for use in respiratory infections. It calms coughs and is beneficial when there is congestion and mucus. By slowing and deepening breathing, it may be used in the form of massage for asthma.
Skin: Frankincense is excellent on mature skin and acne, and helps counter bacterial and fungal skin infections, boils, hard to heal wounds and scars, and distended varicose veins.
