my Daughter who is 11 yrs old says her stomach hurts around her belly button. Put a saucer on her tummy - the middle of the saucer over her belly button and that is the area. She describes that pain as a sicky feeling and pressure. It doesn't appear to get better or worse with food. She has had some pain on her sides but mainly her belly.
Tums seem to help very little. I've been giving her the LBS and Physillium Hulls and Aloe Vera to drink each day now for about 2 weeks. There does not seem to be any change. She seems to feel worse at night and has problems falling asleep because her stomach hurts and feels bad. No fever. No vomiting.
Doctor's have done an X-ray which didn't show that she was constipated. They have done lots of blood work which has all come back negative. They have done lots of stool sample testing which have also come back negative. Now they are referring me to a specialist at Children's Hospital. The last week, she has started getting these short lived, but intense headaches. During all of this, we have also been dealing with head lice which she picked up at school. I don't know that the 2 have anything to do with one another, other than her stomach does seem to feel worse when we are working on her hair. Now is that because she is thinking of it more and doesn't have something to distract her or is it because the stress of the headlice is making it worse. I don't know.

I was looking on the NSP Forum website for a bit tonight. What about digestive herbs? I have Proactazyme herbs. I'm wondering if I should try those. I just don't want to put too much into her stomach tho for fear of making things worse for her.

any help would be great. thanks

Hi,
First I'd like to ask what her bowel habits are like? Does she have a productive BM after each meal? That's very important.

If she does have good, regular bm's, I would suggest you try Gastro Health. There seems to be a rash of stomach pain in children lately and it frequently is helped by Gastro Health. This product was made specifically for the problem of H-Pylori bacteria - you can read about that on the Frequently Asked Questions segment of the forum.

Also, do you give her a probiotic? I would suggest Bifadophilus Flora Force or Probiotic Eleven -- both of which have a substance which promotes gastro intestinal health.

Do share with us if those products help her. Exclamation

With children it is so hard to know, because it is so confusing to them. I'd do as suggested by the doctor first and rule out any serious disorders, it could come down to a psychological problem and I mean that it could be something bothering her she cannot talk about with you. The stress of the head lice can make it seem worsen. It is always best to get her check out by professional doctors who manage kids like suggested first and then if it is not a physical problem then a psychologist may be helpful. After that then maybe some nutricalm and other herbs can help once you have some idea what you are working toward.
