Xylitol Info

NSP gave a booklet on all the xylitol products that will probably better answer your technical questions.

On the last page summary it says things like..
- tastes like sugar...no artificial aftertaste
- 0 grams of net-carbs per serving
- safe for diabetics, hypoglycemics and pregnant women
- prevents cavity-causing bacteria from adhering to teeth
- has glycemic index of 7
- 100% natural

Someone said (I didn't verify) that NSP is being supplied by the Spry folks. Their mints and gum look to me like the same packaging as Spry.

I have used xylitol for some time now (in my proper cup of black tea)and I like it way more than stevia. In fact, my current cup (even as
I type) has NSPs xylitol and I can't really tell the difference between what I got before and NSPs. Maybe y'all can.

Another thing I learned at convention, and perhaps y'all knew this, is that high fructose corn syrup is addictive. Isn't it interesting that
the same plant contains xylitol??!! Also our bodies make about 15 grams of xylitol from the foods we eat.

NSPs Dark chocolate red raspberry bar is cardiotonic (Dr Duarte said cocoa is the 2nd highest plant in antioxidants. It also has CoQ10 and good fats and heart herbs) The Calcium crunch bar has flax seeds in it ...which you may find in your teeth hours later :~). AND despite their attempt to make these healthy...they are to die for !!!!!

Duarte said caffeine is often added to chocolate in processing as are other things and he gave a number for the amt that ours had ...those around me thought it was a small amount (As I mentioned, I accosted him in the hallway with your question and after talking a while we drew a crowd of saavy folks with good questions so I hung out and tried to catch what I could. He is so gracious and SO knowledgeable.)

I saw Dr Duarte in the hall and asked your exact question (having seen your post late last night). According to him once it gets down to the xylitol molecule, it reacts the same in the body. The NSP literature says our xylitol is from non GMO corn and is gluten free without any corn residue.

Duarte said he researched the various sources of xylitol and was not able to find any benefits from the birch over the corn. He talked to the suppliers of the birch xylitol and found that they were not able to substantiate WHY theirs was better.

I have learned that when someone says "only our kind is best" w/o substantiation, know that it is the marketing department talking.

Finally, does it make sense that God would make good xylitol in one form and bad xylitol in another??? So you can always MT w/o prejudice and answer it for yourself.

The products they introduced were mints, gum, mouthwash, nasal spray, and candy bars. The candy bars are chocolate crunch, and chocolate raspberry. The chocolate crunch had, I think, 325 mgs calcium, the crunch is flax seeds. It was about the same size as a Hershey Bar and very good, I thought. The raspberry is chocolate
w/raspberry bits in it. It was ok but not my favorite. Another thing about the chocolate, it will require different shipping so as not to melt. I also thought he said that is would not be available in Hawaii and other warmer climate areas.

Dr. Rodier has a new booklet called Sweet Death and he was on the war path with the glycemic issue and he too was backing the xylitol. -LaVonna

All of our new products are coming from Nature's Sweet Living, a new division of Nature's Sunshine. I was told there is no connection with Spry. -Sharon Grimes
