Soy Milk - Why not

I have read a couple of entries saying that soy milk is not good for kids. I'm curious to know why, where more information is available, and what alternatives are suggested.

I have a 4 year old daughter who has never been able to tolerate cow's milk - I couldn't even eat/drink dairy products when nursing her. Since she quit nursing 3 years ago, she was on regular milk for a few months but ended up extremely mucousy which caused ear infections. Since then she has been on soy milk.

A few postings suggest goat's milk - would humans not have the same sensitivity to goat's milk as cow's milk? Is there a "non-animal" suggestion? -Heather

Almond mild or rice milk can be beneficial. An interesting website about the danger of soy which there are many. www.healingcrow.com/soy/soy.html I found this website very interesting. For a child to consume soy (from what I have read) is like giving them birth control pills. -Kris

Regarding why goat's milk is better than cows. First -- look at a baby cow vs a baby goat. No comparison.

Actual reasoning is that goats milk is sort of predigested. The fat molecules are broken down for you -- so you utilize the milk much easier. You are better off buying milk from a reputable breeder because it will be totally raw. Just check the taste. Goat milk often has an enzyme that makes it taste sort of "goatie". GOOD goat's milk is a perfect beverage. -Georgiana
