Direct Marketing Purpose
What's the purpose of direct marketing?
If you asked different marketers that question, you'd probably get a variety of answers: increase sales, attract customers, build brand awareness, etc.
LJ Herman [lherman@fast.net], chief copywriter at Day-Timers, Inc., looks at it differently. She says direct marketing should focus on one thing: building positive relationships. She adds: "It's amazing how poorly people treat their customers once they've hooked them." It doesn't matter how great your product is or how low your prices are. If you don't value your customers, they're likely to desert you and go somewhere else. (And that's not good for your long-term success.)
Your list of priorities should include this essential ongoing task:
Continually work on improving the way your company treats customers.
Can you think of at least one improvement today?
I bet you know people who would enjoy this tip.
You can send it to them.
