Unique Selling Proposition
How to Create a Great USP by Ron Ruiz You've probably heard how important it is to have a great USP-Unique Selling Proposition. USP is what sets you apart from other similar products/businesses to yours and tells prospects why they should buy from you.
Here is a simple way to come up with a great USP:
Take a survey (or you may already know the answer) and ask what annoys people most about your type of product, service, or business. For example, say you were a web host or ISP; You know peoples complaints are slow or no response to emails, little technical help in designing sites, rude customer support, service interruptions, etc.
Then build your USP around one or more of them.
For example:
("Our Staff is Available 24/7 To Answer Your Questions By Phone or Email"
("Your Email Questions Answered Within 2 hrs. Or Your Months Hosting Is FREE!"
("Our Friendly Tech Staff Will Help You Set Up Your Web Site"
("Last Year Our Service Was Up 98.5% of The Time Without Interruption"
These may not be realistic for you. but you get the idea. Just be sure you can really do what you say you can do! Don't promise something you can't or you will be in big trouble with your customers. |
