5-W
Q: My daughter is now 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced in her 36th week which her doc has said is really very good especially for a first baby. Original due date is March 21. Can any of you OB nurses comment on the dilation and effacement? Might we have a baby sooner? The 5-W doesn't make things happen before the baby is ready, does it? Thanks. -Margaret

No, it won't happen before the baby is going to come anyway. I had one client that always went over--she went over as usual. But her labor and delivery were the best she had ever had! False labor was not as miserable or in as many episodes as before either. -Marilyn Navarro

I have a customer inquiring is there any benefit taking the 5-W, knowing that they will deliver by C-section? -Beverly Brown

5-W is not only for the delivery. It also helps the body return to normal at a much faster rate after delivery. Most of the women that use it only bleed for a few days – not the normal weeks. They also get their "pre-pregnancy" body and weight back much faster. In this case is the c-section really necessary? -Angelica |
