Uterine Fibroids

Has anyone heard of a way to reduce or eliminate fibroids, naturally? -Rachel

Using Pro-G-Yam 500 @1/4 tsp. daily helps to shrink fibroid, reduce pain and heavy bleeding.
I recommend application over the uterine area every other day while rotating the remainder of areas for application. In Dr. Lee's book, this is addressed. -Ann Jones

Uterine fibroid symptoms including heavy bleeding, prolonged periods and frequent urination caused by pressure on the bladder were greatly reduced by daily use of Menstral-Reg. Reduced symptoms were noticed within the first month. -Pamela Howe

I've had them since I started menstruating at age 17. I used to spot constantly, and a liner became my best friend. At the time of my fibroid experience, I found that it became my saving grace when it came to not getting pregnant. Una De Gato (Cat's Claw) helped me rid them fast! Now, I am fibroid-free at 35 and wish to have children someday soon. I am in my so called baby-making years and cannot produce! Even though, I am not currently in a heathy relationship, I would still like to know that I can get pregnant. How will I know? Help me find out if I can get pregnant! -Ladybug

Dr Lee's book ( What your Doctor may not tell you about menopause) is a must read by every woman over 40. Absolutely! Pro-G-Yam cream. I suggest to all my client's over 40 to use it regardless because it will balance our hormones because we live in a estrogen dominate society. I am not African American but I suffer from fibroids also. I think mine are due to a former lifestyle of wrong eating habits. To much red meat, dairy, drinking unfiltered water, not enough exercise etc. I have it pretty much under control. My Dr. wanted to remove my uterus and ovaries about 6 years ago it was so bad. I battled with anemia, that was the toughest part. I go through alot of yellow dock and I-X. It gets my blood count up quickly and my liver loves it. I've changed my diet drastically. Vitamin E is very important. Everything I have researched say's mega doses of Vita E for menopause or fibroids. It is also most important to cleanse the liver. The liver play's a very big part in controlling estrogen dominance. Every situation I've seen with fibroids and estrogen dominance issues including my own the women had liver weakness. I have a client recently who went the medical rout for a while and has developed Barrett's disease (extreme gastro intestinal reflux condition). Of course they gave her meds for it. She also was developing cysts inside and outside her body. I put her on the Pro-g-Yam Cream, liver cleanse with Milk Thistle, VS-C for the cysts because virus showed up on her BTA and enzymes to start. tested her again in 30 day's later her changes were dramatic. She told me that when she started the Pro-G-Yam cream she had one more break-out of 2 cysts on her inner thigh area which burst and no more since. She had been suffering for years with this problem and the Dr.'s could not help her.
As Dr. Lee say's Menopause is not a disease just as puberty is not. It is a transition our body goes through when we are past child-bearing years and should be a blessing and not a curse. -Laura

Q: I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they think this problem is Fibroids? Going to the GYN to find out that Blood is in the uterus? Period was on the 10th November, but seeing spotting on and off after the 5-7days. Seeing spotting during ovulation? Not having any pain except the days of ovulation? Let me know what anyone thinks? Have been sent for a blood test and Pap smear done, waiting on results? -Vicki Mayers

It could be. You didn't give your age. 40's + could be menopause or perimenopausal.
One of my friends during menopause used False Unicorn for "break through" bleeding. Took care of it. -Georgiana

Q: Since this mainly affects African-American women...do you think it has been extensively researched?
A great many women get fibroids, (at least one in 5, I read)and although many black women suffer from the problem I got the impression that it wasn't an ethnic specific issue. Of course there may be politics springing off as a side issue. That must be so, because on Amazon I saw book titles specifically targeted at African American women with fibroids.
I don't know what the research situation is. On fibroid women's discussion forums (Which I recommend)you see postings about various news stories and new research once in a while. One of the possible future treatments being researched was first developed as an abortion drug, and I've seen a post objecting to it's use because of that connection.
I gather that the USA is particularly associated with doling out unnecessary unwanted hysterectomies. If you don't want one and have been told you are getting one, you should certainly do a lot of research and look into the myomectomy. Also read about other treatments around, such as UAE. Which options are suitable depend upon the size, location and position of fibroids, other conditions you may have, whether you want children and how near to the menopause you are. -Cat

Q: I have a 43 year old patient who just had her 1st baby this past June 2003. Patient had a 3cm fibroid before conception and during pregnancy fibroid grew to 12cm. The fetus and fibroid occupied the uterus without one bothering the other. The baby was born fine, a perfect baby boy, and the fibroid did not bleed during the pushing process. Everything seemed fine. Patient bleed 3 months after giving birth, then stopped bleeding for a few days. Then started bleeding again and have not stopped bleeding since. Very large clots come out of her with lots of blood. Her hemoglobin level is 11. She's a breast-feeding mom and is very hesitant about feeding her new and only baby formula. What can she do about the fibroid while breast-feeding? Is surgery her only option? -Wanda Chadwick
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I would have her try Yarrow. The fact that the clots are coming out is good. That means it has probably started flushing itself. She could use the Deep Relief and Lemon in massage oil on the abdomen and a V-X suppository for once a day. -Kimberly Balas

Q: Would you please help me and other forum members in our understanding of what fibroids are and what the symptoms are? -Carol Matz
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
This is from mayoclinic.com. I had these several years ago and the typical modern medicine treatment is to give one the "pill". I did this for a brief stint, but then discovered herbs and have had good success with FC. V-X has also been mentioned a few times.

What are uterine fibroids? Between 20 percent and 40 percent of women past the age of 35 have fibroids. These are noncancerous tumors of the uterus that appear during your childbearing years. Also called myomas, fibromyomas, or leiomyomas, fibroids can appear on the inside or outside lining of your uterus, or within its muscular wall. They usually develop from a single smooth muscle cell that continues to grow. You may have a single fibroid or several. Fibroids can range from pea-sized to the size of a grapefruit. Although most fibroids remain small, their growth can be unpredictable. Some grow slowly, while others may grow very quickly. Most of the time, however, fibroids aren't dangerous. They are not associated with an increased risk of uterine cancer and almost never develop into cancer. -Ginger

I have a friend that has a fibroid and she is currently 4 months pregnant. They are telling her that if the fibroid (which she didn't have before getting pregnant) gets any larger, they will have to take the baby via c-section. She would like to avoid this. What should she consider taking that would be safe for the baby? -Nicole Bandes

Fibroids grow faster in the presence of excess estrogen. Pregnancy is also a proliferative time for all cell growth in a woman's body…even skin moles grow faster in pregnancy. When a woman is not pregnant, do things to boost the progesterone to bring it into the proper balance with estrogen, and support the liver so it can break the hormones down when they have finished their work. -Judith Cobb

It depends on where the fibroid is. If it is in an area that would block the birth canal then there is the concern of it tearing during the process and bleeding. If not, then staying away from all forms of bad estrogen is the key. No dairy products, no meats unless hormone-free and organic. My sister used Red Raspberry, False Unicorn, and Wild Yam for the uterine contractions during her pregnancies. After the pregnancy and after all healing takes place, she can do the cysts and tumor cleanse with SC Formula. My sister is in her late 20's and the specialist at the doctor's office that runs the sonogram says she has never seen calcified fibroids in someone so young. As long as she keeps the estrogens down she is fine. She also used and is using ProGYam 500. -LeRae McBroom

Have you tried V-X? It got rid of my cyst on my ovaries…had 7 of them. Used it as a suppository. -Gwen Wildes
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Do the cyst and tumor cleanse as stated by Arlene Oostdyke (National Mgr) in the Nature's treasure chest. If you don't have it, let me know and I'll list the program. -Liz Blackwell

V-X is supposed to be for this. Research it some more. Much was mentioned of this product in the Sunshine Journal. A suppository is made and inserted. -Gale Gravois

My sister used the V-X and SC Formula and shrunk, calcified, and was able to carry 3 full-term babies. No, we did not use SC Formula while pregnant. She also used Pro-G-Yam, False Unicorn, Wild Yam, Red Raspberry and lots of cleansing. -LeRae McBroom

This is similar to cases that I use V-X with and it works well internally as a vaginal suppository. Usually works well along with All Cell Detox. -Kimberly D. Balas, PhD,

Hi Carol…I have had great success with my clients using Yarrow for fibroids, also you may want to have her use the eo of Roman Chamomile on her abdomen to help with the pain. Red Clover will also help the shrink the fibroids. -Terri Phillips
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I have used All Cell Detox and NF-X and ATC CA for pain. Chamomile oil sounds good – I have used Chamomile capsules, too. -Marilyn Dickerson

I have two clients that are working through the same issue. Here's some info that was shared on this list by Dr. Balas. They are just beginning the regimen so can't speak to results yet. For the fibroids use the All Cell Detox. You can also make a topical application of Clary Sage, Helichrysum, R. Chamomile and Frankincense to massage over the abdomen area. Get dairy completely out and get more water in. -Ed Fink

No protocol for uterine fibroids, but here are some notes that I have collected over time:
The natural health approach to uterine fibroids is to combine cleansing programs that are typical of cancer programs with a hormone balancing program to reduce excess estrogen. Both of these approaches act to increase the liver's detoxification systems. The liver removes wastes and other toxins that tend to corrupt normal cellular processes. The liver removes excess estrogen.

HORMONE BALANCING HERBS
*Sarsaparilla
*Wild Yam
*Natural progesterone can help to correct hormone imbalances that lead to the development of uterine fibroids.[Pro-G-Yam Cream]
*Sarsaparilla is recommended to increase the body's own progesterone production.
*Avoid herbs with promote menstruation such as black cohosh and dong quai.

LYMPHATIC/ALTERATIVE/CLEANSING HERBS
Many of these cleansing programs stimulate the liver detoxification systems. The liver removes wastes and other toxins that tend to corrupt normal cellular processes. The liver is responsible for conjugating (detoxify/destroy) excess estrogen. If it is not functioning efficiently too much estrogen remains in the body. Estrogen is a cell-proliferating hormone.
*Pau d/Arco

VITAMINS
*Vitamin A – Use 100,000 IU/day for the first month and continue with 50,000 IU/day. Vitamin A caution: Women who may become pregnant should not use more than 10,000 IU/day to avoid the potential for birth defects. Long-term use of doses greater than 50,000 IU/day may become toxic for adults and should be used only with the supervision of a health professional. Consider substituting beta-carotene for long-term use.
*Vitamin E – Increase from 400 IU/day up to 1200 IU/day.
*Grapine

IMPROVE CELLULAR OXYGENATION AND METABOLISM
*Coenzyme Q10
*Shark Cartilage – 10-30 grams/day of shark cartilage may help prevent the development of new blood vessels to feed the fibroid growths. Shark cartilage powder may be taken rectally as an alternative to swallowing so many capsules.

NATUROPATHIC THERAPIES
*Fasting may help reduce fibroids.
*Use warm castor oil packs for half an hour several times a week on lower abdominal area to reduce pain.

NUTRITIONAL GUIDELINES
*Eliminate foods that are difficult to digest including fried foods and meat.
*Remember that many meat products retain growth hormones that were used to prepare the animals for market. These exogenous hormones may contribute to inappropriate tissue growth.
*Eliminate refined foods, preservatives and artificial additives.
*Eliminate caffeine.

I would definitely say to use the All Cell Detox and get her on many more fruits and veggies and off meats and dairy. I do know one thing…after menopause, these seem to disappear. This has happened with several friends of mine who were going to have surgery and they were willing to wait and at menopause, they just simply disappeared. -Nolee

Excitement.. great at that! "G" has just left. She came on the 6/6/2002 with a cyst. She returned to the doctor yesterday and he was wanting to operate. To settle on a date…She told him not to worry but to re-check it! He did and she does not need the operation! Praise God! What did she do?
*She put 2 MSM up the vagina at night.
*Swallowed: 4 Dong Quai, 6 Wild Yam and 10 Pau D'Arco for a few days. Got a headache, stopped a few days, repeated the doses, got another headache, so stopped again. But re-starts on 3 Dong Quai, 1 Wild Yam, and 10 Pau D'Arco again today.
*3 Tablespoons of Flax Seed Oil
*Frankincense, 6 drops on the pubic bone in the morning.
*She is also taking 10 Target Endurance for some time. Plus a few others before her problem surfaced. -Valerie Steiner
