One of the biggest mistakes people make is that they want to take a remedy to dry up excess mucus, which the body is generating to protect the delicate mucus membranes from irritating substances; the body is trying to flush those irritants from the surface of the mucus membranes. ALJ helps the body break up the irritant and flush it from the body, along with the mucus. Jeanne Burgess lived in Portland a damp climate, and so this formula works best in damp climate conditions, and damp, boggy conditions in the lung. In a desert, dry climate, ALJ will not be effective, where the lungs need to produce more mucus to help expel the irritant. Instead, pick Chinese Lung Support, with the key herb Astragalus, which helps the lungs produce MORE mucus if they are too dry and irritated. This will help anyone with respiratory weakness when people continually get colds and flu, etc.
Another remedy that works for the dampness is Garlic. Nothing beats it for getting ready of a serious infection in the lungs, The allicin in the garlic (secreted when the garlic is crushed), which is preserved in our Hi Potency Garlic (unlike a powdered garlic product), is excreted through the lungs, which is why eating normal garlic will give you garlic breath. The allicin is a potent anti-microbial that works on viral, bacterial and fungal infections, and is also a decongestant and expectorant formula. The doses are really conservative, so you need to be really aggressive. For pneumonia, or another serious lung problems, take 3-4 capsules of ALJ along with 1 tablet of Hi Potency Garlic every 3-4 hours until they feel better. This will work in 8-24 hours. They will start coughing up the irritants and mucus and will feel tons better very quickly.
Started having new problems when he moved to the desert area --- allergic to the dust, and this bothered him when GARDENING, even when wearing a dust mask. This is allergy season, and most people take drugs that shut down the histamines, which doesn't stop the allergic reaction, but stops the histamines after they have already been released in response to the allergens. This happens when your immune system is weak, etc. The mast cells get on overload and burst, so if you take HistaBlock to stabilize the mast cells (with quercetin and stinging nettle) then you prevent the whole allergy cycle from taking place. You prevent the inflammatory reaction, particularly with IF Relief, after you have already been exposed. Instead, take before you even go outside, then take throughout the day, every couple of hours (2 capsules of each) as you are in the allergen environment. The key is getting enough of this in your system before the allergy reaction starts to take place. Up the dose considerably to stop the allergy cascade.
Breathe EZ - This formula works better when you have problems like asthma, which produces constriction in the lungs. People take medication to suppress their allergic reactions, which drives it deeper into the lungs, and then if you have an allergic reaction, you have an asthma attack. You could take Lobelia to open the bronchials, but it doesn't reduce the inflammation and the swelling --- Breathe EZ does this. Helps with inflammation, chronic asthma, wheezing and shortness of breath, etc.
Tei Fu Oil a good old standby, rub it on the chest instead of Vicks VapoRub. Use the bottle of Tei Fu like an inhaler; the wintergreen has salicin, like in willow bark, that reduces the swelling and inflammation and helps open up the sinuses. Your lymphatics may also be congested; rub Tei Fu on them. The Tei Fu Massage lotion can also be used on the lymph nodes at bed time, and they will usually be clear in the morning.
Emphysema hasn't personally dealt with many cases, but Chinese Lung Support is beneficial in treating this condition of atrophy in the lungs. The tissues of the body have weakened, are dehydrated, and have become stiff and brittle, and cannot fill with air. Hot, dry cigarette smoke dries out the lungs and they lose their elasticity. So, first, people have to stop smoking or stop inhaling the irritating substances (chemicals, etc.); lungs cannot heal until you do. Then, take 8-12 capsules of Lung Support, and take 6-8 capsules a day of mullein to help rehydrate the lung and improve lymphatic flow to the tissue. Horsetail or our HSN-W formula is very helpful due to the silica, which helps the tissue to have their elasticity restores. Try 2 capsules 2x/day.
Lung Cancer consult with an experienced herbalist who can give you personalized advice and attention. Look at the whole picture of the personšs health; a person cannot have cancer unless their whole body is really run down. Have to stimulate the immune system (Immune Stimulator), use proteolitic enzymes (Hi Pot Protease), Paw Paw (works well with lung cancers), etc. Tree of Light has a whole DVD (90-min) addressing this topic. ALJ is multi-purpose - what other uses for Garlic? It can be used for children who are sick; brings down fevers; kills parasites; helps digestion; rubbed on chest, etc.
IF Relief great for pain and inflammation for any cause
Deep bronchial cough that lingers --- is it dry and irritated, or congestion coughing with mucus coming up? If it is a damp cough, ALJ every two hours, 3-4 capsules, or 1/2 t. liquid, plus Garlic, and add Lobelia. If it is a dry, irritated cough, then use Marshmallow, Mullein, Licorice, Astragalus, or Cordyceps. 2 Marshmallow and 2 Mullein, every 2 hours, and 1 Cordyceps 3 times a day. The Chinese Lung Support is usually not enough here.
Two best products for allergies HistaBlock and IF Relief for seasonal allergies ALJ works better for lung reactions related to food allergies (dairy, wheat, etc.). High doses of Vitamin C or Citrus Bioflavonoids will also help break down the histamine and stop the reaction 2-3,000 milligrams. Many of these allergies are related to a difficulty breaking down proteins, so use PDA with meals and Hi Potency Protease in between meals.
Allergies are also related to stress, since your adrenals produce corticosteroids, so you can also use Adrenal Support to boost your adrenals.
Sleep Apnea what will help? One of the biggest factors is excess weight, so you need to get on a program to improve overall health and start losing weight, so the extra pressure does not close the throat. Snor-Ease may help, but will not resolve the problem.
Don't think about remedies as disease remedies, but think about what the body is doing in response to a situation, and then think about how you can correct that, so it brings the body back into balance again. Treat the person, not the disease! If you support the body, it will heal itself. -Sharon Grimes
