Weight Loss Product that Aids the Cardiovascular, Glandular and Immune Systems.
7-Keto is a natural metabolite of DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), the most abundant hormone in thebody. DHEA levels rise during puberty and reach their peak about the age of 30.As people age, their bodies produce less DHEA. For example, at age 80 the average person produces only 5% of the DHEA that he produced at age 30. The sereduced levels have a direct effect on the aging process, including a decline in immune and memory functions.
DHEA and 7-Keto are closely related with the exception that 7-Keto does not have the negative effects sometimes associated with DHEA. For example, 7-Keto does not raise levels of sex hormones (androgens or estrogens) because it does not convert into testosterone or estrogen.
7-Keto enhances the immune system, helps insulin to work more efficiently, reduces cortisol levels, improves thyroid function and aids in weight loss. Here is a more detailed summary of some of the potential benefits of this supplement.
One of the most important benefits of 7-Keto is its role in strengthening the immune system. It enhance shumoral (antibody) and cellular (T-cell) immune response. Antibodies increase the function of white blood cells. They attach themselves to invaders such as bacteria and viruses and immobilize them or mark them for white cells to destroy. 7-Keto helps the body improve normal antibody formation by over 500%.
7-Keto also increases the production of cellular defense proteins called cytokines. Cytokines are soluble proteins, secreted by cells of the immune system that act as messengers to help regulate the immune response. They also stimulate the breakdown of fat.
Known for its cardiovascular benefits, 7-Keto improves lean body mass by reducing cortisol and increasing testosterone-to-cortisol ratios. Cortisol is a hormone associated with stress as well as chronic mood disorders. During times of stress, cortisol levels rise and then subside as stress subsides. Cortisol is an immune suppressive agent and high levels of cortisol contribute to aging.
Type II Diabetes
Research suggests that 7-Keto may be advantageous in helping with Type II Diabetes. A study at the University of Tennessee found that DHEA increases insulin sensitivity in postmenopausal women. Type II Diabetes is characterized by a resistance to the cells being able to utilize insulin. By reducing resistance to insulin, 7-Keto can help to regulate blood sugar levels in insulin-resistant diabetics.
This natural metabolite of DHEA has also been shown to help increase activity in the thyroid by triggeringT3 neurotransmitter receptor sites in the brain.
Thyroid hormones are found in two forms. Thyroxine (T4) is produced in the thyroid gland, but has only as light, if any, effect on speeding up the body's metabolic rate. Thyroxine is converted in the liver and other organs to the metabolically active form, triiodothyronine (T3). This conversion produces about 80% of the T3 form of the hormone in the body; the remaining 20% is produced and secreted by the thyroid land itself.
7-Keto affects the metabolic function of the T3 hormone without altering Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)or T4 (Thyroxine). T3 has the greatest effect on metabolism, speeding up the rate at which the body burns fuel. This enhances thermogenesis by stimulating the function of several thermogenic enzymes, including glycerol 3-phosphate dehydrogenase and cytosolic malic enzyme, thereby increasing metabolism.
A University of Southern California at San Diego study revealed that people who used 100 mg. on a daily basis for six months lost fat and gained muscle. Seventy percent of adults after age 30 naturally gravitate to a higher set-point weight. This is controlled by the hypothalamus. 7-Keto helps to lower the set-point.
Another study conducted by the American College of Physicians over an eight-week period showed a significant loss of body fat and weight. Of the 30 overweight adults tested, 15 were given 100 mg. of 7-Keto twice a day. The other 15 were given a matching placebo. All the subjects exercised three times per week for 60minutes, performing cross-training aerobic and anaerobic activities. Body composition tests at the start of the test and at four-week and eight-week intervals revealed that those who exercised while taking 7-Keto saw a 1.8% body fat reduction. The other group lost only .57% body fat. Most importantly, none of the subjects experienced any side effects.
NSP's 7-Keto Product
Nature's Sunshine's 7-Keto contains 75 milligrams of 7-Keto in a base of chickweed (Stellaria media),which also supports the body's weight-loss efforts.
Chickweed is very useful for reducing excess fat, having both mild diuretic and laxative properties, and helps to alleviate fatigue. It is a strong appetite suppressant and is valuable for reducing blood toxicity by carrying toxins out of the body. Additional benefits are help with fevers and inflammation. The antiseptic properties it exhibits when exposed to the blood has made it an effective anti cancer agent. Chickweed is mild in action and will help dissolve plaque in the blood vessels as well as fatty substances in the system, including fatty tumors. It strengthens the stomach and bowels and is known for its high Vitamin C content. It also contains calcium, sodium, a high content of B-Complex, Vitamin D, and some manganese, phosphorus and zinc.
Take one capsule twice daily with a meal. Maximum concentration levels occur in two hours.
